Yes, it scans photos, it actually has JPG file output. In my opinion, for photos with glossy surface it would leave mark of light reflection , but normal photos scan nice and quick.
No, only Windows compatible.
Actually only one USB is needed, and the other can be used as a spare plug in case of insufficient power.
